Kyle, a director and shareholder in the firm, is the head of Looper, Reed & McGraw's family law section. Kyle's practice focuses on all aspects of family law including divorce proceedings, complex property characterization, valuation and division, child support modifications, modifications of visitation and parental rights, enforcement of court orders, premarital and post-marital agreements and adoptions.

Kyle is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Prior to specializing in family law matters, Kyle practiced several years in the area of commercial litigation giving him the experience to handle the difficult business issues present in most complex property division cases. Kyle continues to handle commercial litigation cases for several clients allowing him to stay abreast of the evolving laws and issues in commercial disputes, many of which impact complex divorce matters.

Representative Experience
  • Handled, settled and, when necessary, tried over 100 complex family law cases involving in excess of $2B in assets.
  • Represented an 11 year NBA veteran in the negotiation and execution of a premarital agreement to protect existing assets and future contract rights.
  • Represented a Grammy award winning artist in a multi-jurisdictional action to void a recording contract executed as a minor. The case settled on favorable terms with the recording company renegotiating the artist's contract.
  • Defended a corporation alleged to be the alter ego of the wife/owner in a divorce proceeding. Upon the close of evidence at trial, the corporation was dismissed from the suit on a successful motion for directed verdict. The decision was upheld on appeal - Marcum v. Marcum, 2008 WL 2388073, (Tex.App.-Houston [1st Dist.] 2008, no pet.) (memorandum opinion).
  • Defended a mother in a suit for malicious prosecution and abuse of process stemming from a prior child support action - the matter was tried over a nine day period to a jury who found for the mother on all issues.
  • Successfully reinstated a mother's parental rights on a Bill of Review where her rights had been previously terminated based on fraud and deceit.
  • Successfully defended a local corporation against claims of employment discrimination. The case was tried to a jury in Harris County for eight days with the Plaintiff seeking damages in excess of $4,000,000; the jury returned a verdict in favor of the Defendants.
