Travis advises energy companies with their upstream operations, with an emphasis on title and transactional matters. His practice addresses a variety of oil and gas matters and real property issues, including, but not limited to: the preparation of title opinions, title documents, participation agreements and development agreements.  Additionally, his practice also includes providing general advice and counsel to oil and gas operators on an array of issues.

Representative Experience

• Prepared drilling, supplemental, leasehold, acquisition and division order title opinions covering acreage located throughout Texas, including East Texas, South Texas and the Barnett Shale.
• Counseled energy clients on a variety of issues relating to leasing, drilling, production and operation of their oil and gas properties.
• Representation of oil and gas exploration companies in the negotiation and preparation of a vast array of mineral development documents, including leases, assignments, title curative documents, farm-outs, joint operating agreements, surface use and damage agreements, and rights-of-ways and easements.
• Advised and represented exploration and production companies in the acquisition and divestiture of producing assets and undeveloped oil and gas interests.
• Representation of exploration clients in Mineral Receivership actions filed in numerous counties throughout East Texas.
• Participated in litigation involving condemnation, trespass to try title, surface access, and royalty disputes.
• Advised clients on a variety of real property issues associated with lignite mining in East Texas.
• Counseled and advised farmers, ranchers and agricultural operations on various issues, including mineral development, grazing leases, hunting leases, livestock purchases and sales, and contractor issues.
