J.J. Hardig is an experienced civil trial lawyer.  He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitration.  He has extensive experience prosecuting and defending large contract disputes involving complex legal and factual issues, typically in the construction realm.  His commercial litigation experience also includes successfully handling cases involving the Texas DTPA, breach of express and implied warranties, breach of fiduciary duty and Uniform Commercial Code issues.  His personal injury experience includes successfully defending serious products and premises liability claims involving toxic exposure, food contamination and crane failure.  He further serves his clients by advising and counseling on litigation prevention strategies and alternative dispute resolution methods.

He has been named a "Super Lawyer" by Texas Monthly Magazine and a "Lawyer on the Fast Track" by H Texas Magazine. Prior to private practice, he served as Justice Adele Hedges' briefing attorney at the First Court of Appeals of Texas in Houston.

  • Obtained favorable arbitration award for general contractor in multi-million dollar breach of contract dispute involving subcontractor’s claims for additional work, construction delays and lost productivity.
  • Tried and obtained favorable judgment in breach of contract matter involving the sale of oil and gas related equipment.
  • Obtained dismissal of claim against premises owner shortly before trial relating to alleged exposure to hydrogen sulfide.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of paint manufacturer in million dollar breach of warranty/DTPA claim concerning toxic mold in a commercial building.
  • Obtained summary judgment in federal court on behalf of government contractor sued in drowning case based on assertion of sovereign immunity.
  • Successful defense of summary judgment in Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals involving sovereign immunity issues.
  • Obtained dismissal of employer’s appeal on behalf of employee after filing brief. The appeal involved non-compete and non-disclosure issues.
  • Obtained dismissal of employee’s federal court claims against employer based on lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
  • Successful resolution of matter for paint manufacturer in action involving joint tortfeasor liability and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
  • Successful resolution of negligence and breach of warranty action involving the alleged failure of paint products used on a multi-million dollar home.
  • Successful defense of paint and chemical manufacturers in various strict products liability and premises liability claims, including but not limited to claims of benzene-induced leukemia.
